If anyone is interested in taking part in RideLondon – Surrey take a look at this email below sent to CSSH.
My son took part in this event in 2015 and 2016 and enjoyed it and said it was great to be able to cycle through London and Surrey on closed roads.
They do not have to pay for the place, just agree to fundraise for the charity. LDA is run entirely by volunteers so any donations raised will go directly to fund the aims of the charity. Donations can also be increased by 25%, with no extra cost to the person, if they are UK taxpayer .
Lyme disease is spread by the bite of an infected tick. If people are aware to check themselves for ticks regularly and these are removed correctly then the risk is much lower of contracting the disease. Also if the disease is treated in the early stages the outcome is very good. However if left untreated it can be very difficult to treat and patients may become very disabled and unable to work. The charity seeks to help people by raising awareness about the disease so they can be empowered to get the treatment they need should they contract the disease
There has been a lot of media attention about Lyme disease so people are gradually becoming aware which is a very good thing. See this page for more information about Lyme disease:
LDA is keen to promote the idea that people should not be scared of activity or the disease, because early removal of ticks and recognition of the disease is vital to the more successful outcome and why we have places for RideLondon.
